Devotees Brave Pouring Rain at the 97th Kamatchi Amman Temple Festival in Alandurai

Amidst heavy rain, over a thousand devotees took part in the 97th annual festival at Kamatchi Amman Temple in Alandurai, carrying ornate palanquins and participating in the traditional events.

Coimbatore: Despite the heavy downpour, the Kamatchi Amman Temple in Alandurai was a hub of devotion and celebration as the 97th annual festival was held with great fervor. Devotees took part in 'Azagu Kuthi', a significant event where ornate palanquins are lifted and paraded around the temple. Last night, the event saw over a thousand devotees in attendance, participating in the procession and fulfilling their vows.

The highlight of the festival included the 'Poochatti' event where devotees, in a display of faith and tradition, paraded with bird-shaped kavadis and swung from cranes in 'Azagu Kuthi', all under the relentless rain. This year's festival also featured traditional music and dance performances from Tamil Nadu and Kerala, adding to the spirit of the celebration.

As devotees danced to the beats of Kerala Chenda Melam, the temple grounds resonated with energy and devotion. The festival will conclude today with the 'Manjal Neerattu Vizha', accompanied by musical performances, marking the end of a vibrant and devout celebration.
