ADGP Maheswar Dayal provided clarification regarding the alleged attack on political critic Savukku Shankar in Coimbatore prison, following accusations of controversial remarks leading to his arrest.

Coimbatore: The issue of political critic Savukku Shankar's alleged assault in Coimbatore prison has come under scrutiny. Shankar, known for his critical political commentary on social media, was recently arrested by Coimbatore Cyber Crime Police after Sub-Inspector Suganya filed complaints against him for allegedly defamatory statements about police officers and inappropriate comments about women officers.

Following his arrest under five different sections, he was placed in Coimbatore Central Prison on the 4th of May. TN's ADGP Maheswar Dayal has clarified today that there was no assault on Savukku Shankar in prison, dispelling rumors of ill-treatment. He reassured that Shankar was medically examined before his imprisonment and was in good health, attributing any possible injuries to an unrelated vehicle accident prior to his arrest.
