Tamil Puligal Party Submits Petition for Improved Living Conditions in Ukkadam's Temporary Settlements

Tamil Puligal Party has submitted a petition to the district administration seeking immediate improvement of living conditions in temporary settlements in Ukkadam, Coimbatore, citing lack of basic amenities.

Coimbatore: Concerns over the prolonged inadequate living conditions in temporary settlements in Ukkadam's Pullukadu and VH Road areas have prompted the Tamil Puligal Party to submit a petition to district authorities. The temporary accommodation was established by the municipal corporation four years ago due to overhead bridge work, intended as a transitory solution for the displaced. However, these temporary homes are still in use without essential facilities such as toilets, drainage, potable water, or consistent electricity, leaving residents in dire straits, particularly during the harsh summer heat.

The residents, primarily from the Arunthathiyar community, have been living in these hardships as the promised completion of their permanent homes is continuously delayed. The party emphasized that the basic amenities must be provided at war-footing and called for swift allocation of completed dwellings to alleviate the community's sufferings. The petition was led by Ilavenil, the leader of the Tamil Puligal Party.

The plight of these individuals highlights the urgent need for governmental intervention to address the grievances of Ukkadam's temporary residents, ensuring they do not endure another sweltering summer without relief.
