Six People Fined for Attempting to Consume Deer Meat in Mettupalayam

In Mettupalayam near Bhavani river, a deer killed after being chased by a dog was attempted to be cooked and consumed by six individuals. They were fined Rs. 50,000.


Coimbatore: A distressing incident occurred on the banks of the Bhavani river in Mettupalayam where a spotted deer, chased and fatally injured by a dog yesterday, became the center of a grim scenario.



Noticing the dead deer, six individuals from S.M. Nagar, namely Dhandapani, Suresh, Nasar Ali, Basith Ahmad, Vinit Kumar, and Mohammad Asad, attempted to cook and consume the animal.

The Forest Department was quick to act upon receiving information about the incident. They detained the six individuals and, today on May 5, imposed a hefty fine of Rs. 50,000 on each before releasing them.
