Four Summoned by CB-CID in the Kodanad Murder and Robbery Case

CB-CID has issued summons to four individuals linked to the ongoing investigation of the Kodanad murder and robbery case, scheduled to appear at the Coimbatore CB-CID station tomorrow.

Coimbatore: In the latest developments of the high-profile Kodanad estate murder and theft case, the Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) has summoned four more individuals for interrogation. This case, which has been under intense scrutiny, involves the murder of a security guard and simultaneous robbery at the Kodanad estate that occurred in 2017.

The CB-CID, which took over the investigation from the local police, has been actively pursuing leads and examining various suspects, including Sayan from Kerala, presumed to be a principal suspect. Recently, they recorded the statements of several people linked to the estate and its employees.

Devin, Ramesh from the estate’s staff, along with Sayan’s friends Babu and Abdul Khader, have now been served summons. They are required to individually appear at the CB-CID Police Station in Coimbatore tomorrow for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the case was brought before the District Sessions Court in Udhagamandalam (Ooty) under Judge Abdul Khader. Among those present in the courtroom were key accused Manoj from Kerala, along with state prosecutors Shajahan and Kanagaraj. Judge Abdul Khader has adjourned the proceedings to June 21, allowing time for further investigation.

A forensic team and experts from various disciplines had previously conducted examinations and submitted their findings to the court. The defense has recently petitioned for permission to conduct their own investigation at the crime scene, arguing that it is crucial for a fair trial. However, the state’s attorney, presenting before the judge, has objected to this request, suggesting that it might compromise the ongoing investigation.
