Increased Crowding at Tirupur Railway Station as Migrant Workers Head Home to Vote

Migrant workers from various districts and states congregated at Tirupur Railway Station, creating unusually large crowds as they began journeys home to vote in the elections across five states including Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Coimbatore: In anticipation of the upcoming elections in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, among other states, a significant number of migrant workers thronged the Tirupur Railway Station to travel back to their hometowns for voting. Tirupur, known as a hub for the textile industry, houses a vast number of workers from various southern districts and other states.

As election day approaches, these workers, eager to exercise their voting rights, have started their journeys via trains and buses to places including Trichy, Madurai, Tirunelveli, and Nagercoil. This influx has resulted in much larger than usual crowds at the station, especially noticeable on routes like the Nagercoil Express and Trichy Express.

Authorities are monitoring the situation to ensure safety and manage the crowd effectively, highlighting the workers’ enthusiasm to participate in the democratic process irrespective of the distance from their polling locations.
