Third Eye Center for Autism Hosts Autism Awareness Walkathon at Race Course

Over a thousand participants gathered for an autism awareness walkathon at Coimbatore Race Course, led by former DGP Shylendra Babu and organized by Third Eye Center for Autism, in observance of World Autism Awareness Day.


Coimbatore: To observe World Autism Awareness Day, the Coimbatore Race Course was the venue for an impactful autism awareness walkathon, where more than a thousand people participated. The event, organized by Third Eye Center for Autism and held at Bishop Appasamy College on April 7, was inaugurated by former DGP Shylendra Babu.

In his address to the media, Shylendra Babu underscored the importance of raising awareness about autism among parents. He stated that autism is a developmental disorder marked by challenges in social interaction and communication, and highlighted the necessity of appropriate interventions by professionals.





Pointing out the alarming statistics, Shylendra Babu mentioned that in India, one in 68 children is diagnosed with autism, a figure that is significantly higher in countries like the United States, where the ratio is one in 38 children. He emphasized the critical need for continuous support and optimism from the parents of children with autism.Furthermore, Shylendra Babu shared inspiring examples of renowned individuals, including scientist Albert Einstein, who were believed to have been affected by autism, showcasing their extraordinary contributions despite their challenges.

He shared a personal anecdote about Einstein misplacing his train ticket and diligently searching for it, illustrating the unique challenges faced by individuals with autism.

Shylendra Babu, revealing his own journey with autism, spoke about overcoming obstacles and achieving success, offering hope and encouragement to others affected by the condition.
