Anusha Ravi Resigns from Makkal Needhi Maiam, Joins BJP

Anusha Ravi, the state propaganda secretary of Makkal Needhi Maiam, resigned due to disagreement with the party's stance on electoral politics and joined BJP in Chennai today in the presence of state leaders.

Coimbatore: In a significant political move, Anusha Ravi, the state propaganda secretary for Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), has officially resigned from her position and all responsibilities within the party. In a statement released today, Ravi cited her disagreement with the party's decision to abstain from electoral politics as the primary reason for her resignation. Expressing deep regret, she announced her departure from MNM, indicating a significant shift in her political career.

This move comes after MNM's leader, Kamal Haasan, announced that the party would not contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, leading to discontent among several party members. Anusha Ravi, expressing her dissatisfaction with this decision, has chosen to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Her induction into BJP was formalized today, March 16, in Chennai, in a ceremony attended by notable BJP leaders including state president K. Annamalai and Union Minister L. Murugan. Ravi's transition to BJP has stirred discussions and speculations among MNM supporters and members, marking a notable shift in the political landscape.
