Pollachi Residents Protest for Drinking Water Supply with Empty Pots

Residents of Pakkothipalayam near Pollachi besieged the Collector's office with empty pots demanding regular drinking water supply, after facing months of scarcity and resorting to buying water at high costs.

Coimbatore: In a vivid demonstration of their plight, hundreds of residents from Pakkothipalayam near Pollachi, representing over 250 families, thronged the Collector's office on February 26 with empty pots in protest. They demand immediate action for the provision of a consistent drinking water supply, which has been irregular for the past few months. Forced to purchase water at exorbitant prices, the villagers have repeatedly appealed to government officials and the local panchayat administration for a solution, to no avail.

The protestors, enduring the scarcity for months, submitted a petition to the Collector, emphasizing the dire need for regular water supply in Pakkothipalayam, a village under the Jammin Kottampatti Panchayat, which hosts 250 families. They warned of escalating their protest if their demands for an adequate water supply are not met, highlighting the inaction of the panchayat administration despite numerous complaints.
