Commencement of Stormwater Drain Construction in Ward 52, Coimbatore

The East Zone Chairperson of Coimbatore City Corporation, Ilakkumi Ilanchelvi Karthik Mc., inaugurated the construction of a stormwater drain in Kavetti Naidu Lay Out, Ward No. 52, with an estimated cost of Rs. 5 lakhs on February 24.


Coimbatore: Addressing the urgent need for efficient rainwater management, the Coimbatore City Corporation has kick-started the construction of a new stormwater drainage system in Kavetti Naidu Lay Out, part of Ward No. 52, under the East Zone. The project, inaugurated on February 24 by East Zone Chairperson, Mrs. Ilakkumi Ilanchelvi Karthik Mc., is estimated to cost Rs. 5 lakhs.

The initiative aims to alleviate flooding and improve rainwater disposal in the area, enhancing the overall living conditions for the residents. Assistant Engineer Mrs. Jegatheeswari, along with CTC Nataraj, Greenways Subramaniam, Manohar, Amirtha Valli, Gayathri, Saraswathi, Punitha, Tamil Selvi, Prema, Umavathi, Nagaraj, Duraisamy, Rajendran, Kaliyappan, and members of the public, were present at the ceremony, underscoring the community's support for the project.

This development is part of the city's broader efforts to upgrade its infrastructure and ensure sustainable urban growth. By addressing the crucial issue of stormwater management, Coimbatore City Corporation demonstrates its commitment to enhancing the city's resilience against adverse weather conditions and improving the quality of life for its citizens.
