Young Woman Killed in Traffic Accident Involving Goods Vehicle in Coimbatore

Kavibharathi, a 24-year-old woman, tragically lost her life in Coimbatore after the bike she was on with friend Parthiban hit a speed breaker and was subsequently struck by a goods vehicle on Pothanur-Vellalore Road on February 18.


Coimbatore: In a tragic incident that occurred yesterday (Feb. 18), Kavibharathi, a 24-year-old from Pinnayur in Thanjavur district, was killed in a road accident on Pothanur-Vellalore Road. Kavibharathi, who was residing in a women's hostel in Ramanathapuram and working in a private company in Coimbatore, was traveling with her friend Parthiban, a 26-year-old private company employee from Ganapathy, Coimbatore, on his motorcycle.

The accident happened when their bike lost control after hitting a speed breaker, causing them to fall onto the road. A goods vehicle following them could not stop in time and ran over Kavibharathi, resulting in fatal head injuries that led to her immediate demise at the scene. Parthiban sustained injuries to his hand and is currently receiving medical treatment.

The Coimbatore Traffic Investigation Division has registered a case regarding the incident and is conducting a thorough investigation. This tragic accident has highlighted the need for greater road safety measures and awareness among drivers and riders alike in Coimbatore.
