Man Arrested for Selling Marijuana Near Idaiyarpalayam, Coimbatore

Coimbatore's Goundampalayam police apprehended a 22-year-old, Mohammed Rasheed from MGR Nagar, for engaging in the sale of marijuana near the Puliyamaram bus stop in Idaiyarpalayam during their patrol duty on February 17.


Coimbatore: In a crackdown on illegal drug activities, the Goundampalayam police made a significant arrest near Idaiyarpalayam, Coimbatore, on February 17. During routine patrol duties, the police noticed a suspicious young man loitering near the Puliyamaram bus stop along the Idaiyarpalayam road. Upon interrogation, the individual, identified as Mohammed Rasheed, aged 22, from MGR Nagar in Goundampalayam, exhibited inconsistency in his responses, raising further suspicion.

A subsequent search led to the discovery that Rasheed was involved in the sale of marijuana. Police seized 450 grams of the substance along with a scooter used in the illicit trade. Following the arrest, Rasheed was presented before a court and subsequently remanded to central jail.

This arrest is part of ongoing efforts by Coimbatore police to combat the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics. The swift action underscores the law enforcement's commitment to maintaining public safety and curbing drug-related crimes in the area.
