This is a first-of-its-kind expo to be hosted in our city. This is not a builders’, life-style, health or a fashion expo but this debut My Shopping My Bag expo is sure an eye-opener. A group of few like-minded individuals from our city joined hands and with the support of the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) formed this group called My Shopping My Bag. Ever since this group came into being its members and volunteers have been campaigning across the city, reaching out to people from all walks of life, motivating them to switch to eco-friendly alternatives instead of plastic shopping bags.
An expo to bridge the gap between manufactures of the eco-friendly products including shopping bags and the end consumers was inaugurated today. This is the debut expo that is being hosted by this group. This two-day expo was declared open by CCMC Commissioner, Dr Vijaya Karthikeyan.

Speaking at the inauguration, he applauded the efforts of the active members of My Shopping My Bag and he said “We all are aware of the amount of damage that is caused when we use plastic shopping bags. It is our collective responsibility to give up using plastic bags. It is not just enough to encourage people to switch to eco-friendly alternatives. Providing them with an option to replace plastic bags is equally important. This expo aims at educating the people on what options are available. This is a B2B expo that will connect the manufacturers and the end users.”

This expo that is being hosted at the Corporation Kalaiarangam, R S Puram has under one roof over two dozen vendors from across India who have displayed their eco-friendly products. From cloth-bags to pencils to home decor products and cutlery, one can find them all at this My Shopping My Bag expo. Vendors from as far as Mumbai have put up their eco-friendly products on display and for sale at this expo.
