Coimbatore: In a spectacular display of tradition and sportsmanship, a grand Rekla race was organized in Pollachi, near C Gopalapuram, to commemorate the DMK Youth Wing Conference. The event witnessed the participation of 300 bulls, drawing large crowds from Coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur, and Kerala.
The race, featuring categories of 200 meters and 300 meters, saw fierce competition among the participants. Coimbatore South District Secretary Thalapathi Murugesan took the reins first, while DMK State Information Technology Wing Joint Secretary Dr. Mahendran inaugurated the event.
The spirited bulls charged through the course, leaving spectators in awe of their strength and agility. The event, a true testament to the region's cultural heritage, attracted numerous locals and youngsters, who enthusiastically enjoyed the race.
Key organizers included Coimbatore South District Treasurer Jayaprakash, C Gopalapuram Village Council Head Medical Paramasivam, and members of the DMK Environmental Wing and Tamil Cultural Foundation.
Prizes were awarded to the winning bull owners, with the first prize being INR 50,000, the second prize INR 40,000, and the third prize INR 30,000, along with gold coins.
