Kongu Global Forum Urges Introduction of Vande Bharat Express Between Thiruvananthapuram and Coimbatore

Citing the existing 82 omni bus services and various trains operating daily between Coimbatore and Ernakulam, the forum suggests that the Vande Bharat Express would be an instant success.

Coimbatore: The Kongu Global Forum has formally addressed a request to the Honorable Minister of State for External Affairs, Government of India, to initiate the Vande Bharat Express train service between Thiruvananthapuram and Coimbatore.

The forum emphasizes the strategic importance of this route as Coimbatore serves as a gateway to Kerala and is in proximity to the Nilgiri Mountains, often referred to as the queen of hill stations in India.

They argue that introducing the high-speed train service would not only accommodate the high volume of passengers frequenting this route but also contribute to a profitable line of railway operations.

Citing the existing 82 omni bus services and various trains operating daily between Coimbatore and Ernakulam, the forum suggests that the Vande Bharat Express would be an instant success. The letter points out the current restrictions in seat quotas and timings that limit the public's use of available train services, hence the introduction of the Vande Bharat Express could provide a much-needed alternative.

The Kongu Global Forum asserts that the affordability of the people in the region would support the success of this service and bring significant revenue to the railways. They urge quick action on this request to enhance the travel experience for the public and strengthen the economic and social fabric of the Kongu region.
