Pongal Celebration for Differently-Abled by Karunai Karangal at Coimbatore

The Karunai Karangal Differently-Abled Welfare Association, in collaboration with DRS Group, celebrated Pongal at T.R.S Avenue, South Thiruppathi Road, Mettupalayam, Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: The Karunai Karangal Differently-Abled Welfare Association, along with the DRS Institution, organized a special Pongal celebration for differently-abled individuals at T.R.S Avenue, located near South Thiruppathi Road, Mettupalayam in Coimbatore. The event was presided over by DMK's Central Executive Committee member T.R.S. Shanmuga Sundaram.

The celebration was marked by traditional practices, including the cooking of Pongal in new pots and offering prayers to the Sun. As the Pongal boiled over, attendees raised the traditional cry of "Pongalo Pongal," heralding the festival's auspiciousness.

This inclusive event provided an opportunity for differently-abled individuals, along with their families, to celebrate the harvest festival. They were gifted Pongal essentials such as raw rice, jaggery, cashews, raisins, cardamom, split green gram, ghee, sweet and savory snacks, along with new clothes like saris and dhotis. These gifts were distributed by T.R.S. Shanmuga Sundaram, the Managing Director of DRS Properties & Developers, along with Director Vijayalakshmi, and other directors Kaviya, Monisha, and children Advait, Diya, and Anvika.

The event highlighted the spirit of equality and inclusivity, ensuring that the joy of Pongal was shared among all members of the community, regardless of their abilities. It demonstrated the commitment of the Karunai Karangal Association and DRS Group towards supporting and celebrating with the differently-abled community in Coimbatore.
