Coimbatore City Corporation Celebrates Samathuva Pongal Festival

The Coimbatore City Corporation hosted a grand Samathuva Pongal Festival, marked by cultural performances and traditional arts, under the leadership of Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar and Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran.


Coimbatore: Celebrating the Tamil festival of Thai Pongal, the Coimbatore City Corporation organized a grand Samathuva Pongal Festival at the main premises of the Corporation office. Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar led the celebrations, along with Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran. The event included an array of activities such as a small-grain food festival, performances by school students, various art presentations, sports competitions, and traditional Tamil arts like Poikkal Kudhirai (Dummy Horse Dance), Thappattam, Silambattam, and Oyilattam.



Deputy Mayor Vetrivel Selvan, Deputy Commissioner Selva Surabi, and Zone Leaders - East Zone Leader Lakshmi Ilanchezhiyan Karthik, Central Zone Leader Meena Logu, West Zone Leader Theivanai Tamilmarai, South Zone Leader Thanalakshmi Ranganathan, North Zone Leader Kathirvel, Party Leader Karthikeyan, Works Committee Leader Shanti Murugan, Taxation and Finance Committee Leader V.P. Mubasheera, Accounts Committee Leader Deepa Ilango, District Planning Committee Member Karthik Selvaraj, along with local representatives, Corporation officials, and staff, participated and enhanced the festival's spirit.

















The event was a vibrant showcase of Tamil culture and traditions, offering a communal space for people to engage in festivities. It highlighted the rich heritage and unity among the people of Coimbatore, as they came together to celebrate one of the most significant festivals of the Tamil community.
