The on-going intensive encroachment and retrieval of reserve site drive by the city Corporation has so far recovered 20 acres of reserve site worth Rs. 223.30 crores from all five zones, since October 2016.
In this regard, Corporation Commissioner Dr.K. Vijayakarthikeyan has passed stern orders to the officials to further intensify the drive until all reserve sites are brought under the control of the City Corporation.
In a drive conducted this weekend, 17th and 18th March in the east, west, north and south zones, reserve site close to 1.49 acres worth Rs. 11.89 acres have been retrieved by the corporation.
West Zone - Kaundampalyam - Kannaiya Nagar (Ward No:5 ) - 31 cents, worth Rs. 2.5 crores.
North Zone - Saravanampatti - Meenakshi Nagar (Ward No:28) - 25 cents, worth RS. 1.25 crores
South Zone - Kuniamuthur - Ward No:92 - 20 cents worth RS. 2 crores.
East Zone - Kalapatti - Ashok Nagar (Ward:No:33) 44 cents worth Rs. 4.4 crores and College Nagar (Ward No:35) 29 cents worth Rs. 1.74 crores.
