For the seventh consecutive day, the employees of the Tamil Nadu Rural Department are on a strike demanding to pass their 20-point resolution as a law in the assembly.

Filling up of vacant posts, transparency in transfer and appointment of officials, immediate conduct of local body elections are some of the demands put-forth by the department of rural development in the 20-point resolution. As announced, the employees in the district of Coimbatore have staged a sit-in-protest at the Collectorate. Speaking on this, Muthuraj, District Secretary said, 'We will continue this sit-in-protest for today and tomorrow at the District Collectorate. And, on 23 rd March, all 22,000 employees of our department will jointly meet the Director of Rural Development Department in Chennai and urge to pass the resolution in the assembly'.
