As we enter the office we are greeted by NAO the humanoid robot developed by the company.
The city was coming to terms with demonetisation and it was at that time Vishnu Engineering launched its first Robot Lakshmi , at City Union Bank Coimbatore to help the customers at the bank. And few weeks ago Lakshmi’s Sibling NAO was seen entertaining passengers at the Coimbatore International Airport with its cool dance moves.
In conversation with SimpliCity, Vijay Shah Chief Executive Officer of Vishnu Engineering shared some interesting facts about robotics."Robotics is the future. People have started depending in robots. Though it cannot be a real time replacement but will prove to be of immense help to people. The first robot Lakshmi was introduced at City Union Bank in Coimbatore during the period of demonetization.”
Customer’s who visited this bank banked on Lakshmi for help and she did lend a helping hand by asking them their requirements, guiding them to open an account, provides complete co banking solution, gives details regarding fixed deposit and rate of interest and respond to various customer queries. It is a major hit among people and it eventually helps is saving manpower. After City Union Bank Canara Bank too got one and we are in talks with various other banks.” says Vijay.
When asked about the demonstration at Coimbatore Airport he said they got a call from Coimbatore International Airport to give a demo of NAO Robot. The Robot was present in Coimbatore Airport for 2 days and nearly 1400 passengers interacted with the Robot. When weasked Vijay about its functions at the airport he shares "No one will be interested in standing in long queues to know the flight status and information pertaining to that. Instead you can just give your PNR number to Robot and it will get you the required information. It can guide the passengers in the airport who are new to the city. Many a times there are unexpected delay in flights at those time one can have fun with NAO .The robot can entertain anyone kids can play quiz or dance , youngsters can interact and not to miss out the elder people they can have religious session with the robot. The demonstration was successful and we are looking forward for the approval from the competent authorities.”
“With respect to the technical aspect of the robots it speaks 19 different languages and 2 feet high. It is completely sensor and works of Artificial Intelligence. It is programmed in such a way that it can recognise voice, it can walk, dance ,talk and grasp things. It is a flexible Humonid Robot. The body of the robot is procured from France and the entire programming part is completed here in Vishnu Engineering.”
The robots can be of used at hospitals, educational institutions, R&D field, commercial Sector, IITs, IBMs, Corporate Companies, Defence and Navy. The next project of the company is flying robots which will have great impact on hospitals, Defence and Navy. The robots can fly 10,000 feet. In hospitals it can help send across the necessary medicines to patients in ambulance which is stuck in traffic. With respect to defence and navy it can help in keeping a eye on the activities of enemies.
The cost of this robot is Rs.10 lakh and can vary based on the programming required by the client. Already this company is providing its services in PSG institutions, Avila Convent, Kumaraguru College of Technology and two banks in the city.
Vijay Shah aims to make Coimbatore proud through his works. Always Chennai and Bangalore are the cities which are looked upon for technology but being a tier two city Coimbatore should also be known for its technological advancements. Through this new technological break-through, Vijay Shah has certainly put Coimbatore on the international technological map of fame.
