The employees of the District Rural Development Department are on a strike for the fifth consecutive day urging the Government to pass their 20-point demand as a resolution in the assembly.

Immediate conduct of local body elections, filling the vacancies in their department and maintenance of transparency while transferring or appointment of new staff are some of the demands put-forth by the department of rural development.

Today, close to 150 staff of the Rural Development Department hosted a sit in protest in front of the District Collectorate urging the Government to fulfill their 20-point demand. Due to this unprecedented protest traffic was blocked near the Collectorate following which the protesting employees courted arrests.
