Patients take the ambulance to the hospital during times of emergency. In such situations, ambulance drivers and medical staff who are inside the ambulance that is on the way to the hospital are under tremendous pressure to save the patient’s life. However, when the road uses fail to cooperate, a valuable life can be lost. This morning, it has been reported that carelessness on behalf of a private bus driver created a panic on the busy Coimbatore Junction road and this resulted in the bus driver paying a price for it.
A 108 ambulance with a patient who is battling for life was rushing to the hospital. The ambulance siren was playing loud clearly screaming for way. To the bad luck of this ambulance, it got caught behind a private bus #85. This bus that takes passengers between Ukkadam and Chinnathadagam was passing by the Coimbatore Junction with this 108 ambulance behind it.
A source shares with us that loud music above the normal level was playing inside this bus. The music, vernacular tinsel numbers were played so loud that the bus driver failed to hear the siren of the ambulance that was right behind this bus. However, an alert traffic police on duty at this stretch who is also eye witness to this incident, took control of this situation. Better late than never, the ambulance finally was given way when this private bus was halted by the traffic police on duty. This incident created a mild traffic jam at this stretch.
The traffic police on duty demanded an explanation from the driver who was questioned about the music that was played in this bus. A fine of Rs 1,000 was also slapped on the bus driver for his negligence. It may be noted that it is against the law to play loud music inside the bus.
While this news story was finding its way online, news of another bus driver being fined for the same reason has been reported. The second incident we are told took place in Sungam. It would be nice if road uses display more responsibility while using the roads. This would make our roads safe and valuable lives can be saved.
