The Bengaluru police have arrested a Congress Bommanhalli Town Municipal Council member, Sarojamma, for allegedly murdering BJP Councillor Srinivas Prasad. Prasad was hacked to death on Tuesday on Hosur Road. Sarojamma’s son, Manju, who is also a prime accused in the case, is on the run.
Four more arrests
Four other men, believed to be friends of Manju, were arrested by the Hebbagodi police for allegedly carrying out the murder on the orders of Sarojamma and her son. The police are yet to determine whether Manju was part of the gang that killed Prasad.
Personal enmity: police
The police are yet to confirm whether the murder was politically motivated or was carried out for personal reasons.
“We are yet to ascertain the motive for the murder. Initial inquiries have revealed that there was some enmity between the two councillors,” Superintendent of Police Amith Singh told the media.
