A bus driver suffered from minor injuries after a mobile phone caught fire when he had left it in his pocket on Tuesday. The incident was reported from Uppinagady and the injured has been identified as Sandesh a resident of Belthangady, working as a driver in a private bus.
The incident took place when he was driving on the Madanthyar-Uppinangady route. When the bus reached Taneerupanta village near Alake, the mobile phone that was in his pocket exploded suddenly.
He was quick to react, he stopped the bus immediately, and threw his shirt out of the bus. Since there was fire near the mobile battery socket, the battery was completely burnt. He claimed that he bought the mobile about a year ago for Rs 5,900. He was treated in the out patient ward of a hospital.
