TN CM announces solatium for kin of JNU scholar

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Monday condoled the death of J. Muthukrishnan, the Salem-born Dalit research scholar at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi, and announced a solatium of Rs. 3 lakh to his family. In a statement, Mr. Palaniswami said, “I have directed officials to extend all necessary support so that his body can be brought to his native place.” A solatium of Rs. 3 lakh would be granted from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund.

A native of Periyari village in Salem district, Muthukrishnan was pursuing his doctorate in history at the JNU.
