District Collector TN Hariharan today convened an All Party meeting to discuss on the upcoming local body elections. While the Election Commission is yet to announce the date for conduct of local body elections, preliminary work for conduct of election has begun in all districts.
District Collector at the discussion session announced that 1197 polling centres has been planned for 100 wards of Coimbatore Corporation. Pollachi, Valparai and Mettupalayam has been allotted with 227 polling centres for 90 wards put together. Including all panchayat and rural areas, Coimbatore District will have 3651 polling centres for 2809 wards in total.
All contesting political parties who have any suggestion on this proposed draft are asked to revert back to the election officer for their ward on or before 20th March, 2017. The list of voters pertaining to every ward also can be obtained from the election officer of each ward.
Representatives of all parties, District Revenue Officer, Durai Ravichandran, Director of planning (rural) Ruban Sankar Raja, Divisional Revenue Officer, Madhuranthagi and Collector's personal assistant (election) P.H. Raja and other officials from various departments attended the meet.
