Dog working in bomb detection unit dies in Coimbatore: 30 bullets fired and given a honourable burial

Raja, a sniffer dog who had been working in the bomb detection unit in Coimbatore for the last three years, died due to ill-health.


Coimbatore: The last rites of 30 bullets were fired at raja, a dog that died due to ill-health. Later, he was buried in the premises of the Detective Dog Unit at Sulur police station.

7 sniffer dogs are being trained in coimbatore district armed forces unit. These dogs were used for murder, robbery and bomb detection. Raja, a labrador-type dog, has been used in the bomb detection unit for the past three years.

The dog had been unwell for the past one week. Dog died while undergoing treatment. The last rites of the dog were performed under the leadership of Coimbatore District Armed Forces DSP Thennarasu.

At that time, 30 bullets were fired at the sniffer dog king and his last respects were paid. Dog was later buried in the premises of the Detective Dog Unit at Sulur police station. Raja, the sniffer dog who died, was deployed for security duties at various events including the Independence Day celebrations in Chennai and the event attended by the President at Mudumalai in the Nilgiris district.
