Despite the announcement and awareness created by the City Corporation on the hazards of plastic nonbiodegradable bags, retailers in the city especially small traders continue to these plastic bags.
During today's routine ward inspection by the Corporation Commissioner, he paid a surprise visit to a shop in Ward No:42 and confiscated plastic bags that were less than 50 microns. He also advised the shop keeper to refrain from using plastic bags instead introduce cloth or eco friendly bags with immediate effect.
During this inspection, he also visited the indoor stadium renovation work in Thirumalai Nagar and construction of water tank in Udayamplayam area. The waste segregation process and spraying of abate mosquito repellents to prevent dengue in Ward No:42 by the corporation staff was also reviewed during the inspection.
