Selvaraj, the accused in the murder of driver Ravi due to enmity in Periyanaickenpalayam police station area in Coimbatore, was arrested by the police and produced before the court and later lodged in Coimbatore central jail.
Coimbatore: Selvaraj hacked driver Ravi to death with a sickle after he objected to selling stolen goods.
Ravi is a resident of Periyanayakanpalayam police station area in Coimbatore district. He works as a driver in a private shop. Selvaraj works in the same shop. Selvaraj used to buy and sell stolen goods. Ravi has condemned this.
It is learnt that Ravi had gone to work on Saturday and has not returned home since then. So, his son Nandakumar, who was shocked, went to the shop and enquired. It was then that Ravi came to know that Ravi had gone to Selvaraj's house.
So Nandakumar went there and saw it. It was found that Ravi had been murdered there. Nandakumar has lodged a complaint with the Periyanaickenpalayam police station in this regard.
Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Badrinarayanan ordered to take immediate action. Periyanaickenpalayam police rushed to the spot and recovered Ravi's body and sent it to coimbatore government hospital for post-mortem.
Selvaraj, a native of Thoothukudi district, who works in the same shop, had hacked Ravi to death due to prior enmity. Selvaraj, who was absconding, was arrested by the Periyanaickenpalayam police yesterday and was produced before the court and lodged in the central jail.
