Coimbatore: A 21-year-old College student from Vellore died this morning after he bathed in a pond at the Isha Yoga Centre at Vellingiri.

Ramesh, Son of Mannarsamy from Thiruvannamalai was pursuing his civil engineering course in a private college at Vellore. Ramesh along with his college mates were on a recreational trip to Coimbatore which was organised by their College.
This morning, as per the agenda the students visited Isha Foundation at Vellingiri. Ramesh along with his friend bathed in the Surya Kulam ( an auspicious pond with a structure of sivalingam which is made up of Mercury and allied heavy metals).
Unexpectedly, Ramesh fell sick after he bathed in the pond. His friends immediately rushed him to a nearby private hospital where he was administered basic first aid treatment. Further, the private hospital doctors advised to shift Ramesh to the Government Hospital for advanced treatment. But unfortunately, Ramesh passed away on the way to the GH.
The students were struck in shock and grief to learn on the death news of their colleague. Presently, the body of the deceased is in GH for postmortem examination. The Alandurai Police have registered a case against the incident and have kick-started the preliminary investigation. The exact reason that led to the death of this student is yet to be ascertained.
