Elephant damages banana plantation near Pannimadai

Forest department is investigating the incident in which a lone tusker entered Narasimharaj's banana plantation in Pappanaickenpalayam near Pannimadai last night and damaged more than 100 banana trees.


Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, a single wild elephant entered a banana plantation near Pannimadai and damaged banana trees.

There are more than 50 wild elephants in the Anaikatti hills of Coimbatore. They have been entering the plantations in the foothills of the hills like Mangarai, Thadagam, Varapalayam, Pappanaickenpalayam, Pannimadai and other areas in search of food and damaging crops.



In this situation, a single wild elephant entered the banana plantation of Narasimharaj in Pappanaickenpalayam near Pannimadai on Thursday night.



The elephant went inside the garden and damaged more than 100 banana trees. The forest department is investigating the matter.
