Truck carrying cement mixture topples near Dharapuram; 3 killed and 5 injured

Kalamani runs a roadside tea stall in Suriyanallur near Dharapuram in Tirupur district. In this situation, Thursday morning a lorry carrying cement mixture from Trichy. The driver, Rathinakumar, was driving.



The lorry, which was on its way to Tirupur from Trichy, lost control of the driver and entered kalamani's tea stall on the roadside and met with an accident when it was on its way to Suriyanallur near Dharapuram.



Muthusamy (62) and Kuppan (70), who were working in the shop, died on the spot while the driver Rathinakumar (28) succumbed to his injuries at the Dharapuram Government Hospital.



Mahendran (20) of Nandavanampalayam near Dharapuram, Govindasamy (67) of Kuppannampalayam near Suriyanallur, Chellamani (64), Muthusamy (60) and Manickam (46) of Sooriyanallur were also injured. The neighbours rescued five persons and sent them to dharapuram government hospital in an ambulance.

There they were called for first aid treatment and sent to coimbatore hospital for further treatment.



Kundadam police led by Dharapuram DSP Kalaiyarasan are inspecting the spot and investigating how the accident took place.
