In Dharapuram, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) staged a protest against the atrocities in Manipur and demanded immediate steps to restore peace there.

In Dharapuram in Tirupur district, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) staged a protest in front of the Anna statue in Dharapuram against the union and the ruling state BJP for not taking any action against the violence and rape of women in Manipur.

Muthusamy led the protest. During the protest, two tribal women in the state of Manipur were brutally stripped naked and dragged in a procession on the road. The gang-rape of one of them and the murder of two members of the family who had gone to save the woman has created outrage across the country.

The culprits involved in this heinous act should be arrested. The BJP chief minister of Manipur should resign after failing to control the violence that has been going on in the state for more than two months.

They raised slogans and demanded that the Union government should take immediate steps to restore peace in the state without looking at it. Taluk secretary N Kanagaraj and party office-bearers P Ponnusamy, Meghavarnan, Rajendran, Kannusamy, Govindaraj and many others participated in the protest.
