Heavy traffic congestion due to under-construction Ukkadam flyover work

In Coimbatore district, flyover works are in progress at Ukkadam, Athupalam, Kuniyamuthur, Avinashi Road and Periyanaickenpalayam. These flyover works were started at almost the same time in all places in the previous regime and is causing heavy congestion to the travelling public.

Coimbatore: In Coimbatore district, flyover works are in progress at Ukkadam, Athupalam, Kuniyamuthur, Avinashi Road and Periyanaickenpalayam.

At the same time, road restoration works and laying of pipelines are also being carried out in various areas.

Due to this, there is heavy traffic jam in various parts of Coimbatore city causing inconvenience to the public.

This is because due to the Ukkadam Athupalam flyover works, buses and many heavy vehicles were diverted through Puttu Vikki bridge.

At present, buses and vehicles have been diverted from Athupalam to Ukkadam road as the pipeline works are going on in Puttu Vikki Bridge area as well.

At a time when the flyover work between Ukkadam and Athupalam is yet to be completed, heavy vehicles have also been diverted on this route, causing heavy traffic jams.

Thus it takes about half an hour to an hour for those going to work, school-going students and the general public to cross this 1-km stretch.

Sometimes ambulances are also stuck in this traffic jam. Due to this, motorists and all the residents of the area are facing a lot of difficulties.

Moreover, when the flyover works are going on in Coimbatore city on the one hand, alternative routes have been arranged for the same. At present, work is also being carried out on the road. It is said that there is heavy traffic congestion as all the motorists use the same road without knowing which way to go. It will be convenient for the general public and motorists if the work is completed on any one of the roads and the work starts on another road.

It is to be noted that the motorists and the people of the area have requested for information to complete the flyover work at the earliest.
