Manipur riots - Law college students stage protest demanding removal of Manipur CM

Chief Minister Biren Singh should be sacked immediately for failing to maintain peace in Manipur. President's rule should be imposed in Manipur and people should be provided security immediately, said the protesting law students


Three months ago, a clash between two groups over reservation in Manipur turned into a riot. A large number of people have lost their lives in the riots. Thousands of people have been seriously injured. Several more Christian churches have also been looted.

The houses of various BJP workers were also looted, claiming that the main reason for this was the BJP government. Recently, a video of two Manipuri women being forcibly stripped naked and dragged on the road by men has gone viral on social media. Protests and demonstration are taking place across the country condemning the incident.



As part of this, students of the Government Law College in Maruthamalai area of Coimbatore staged a protest. The manipur sex offenders in this protest should be arrested immediately and given the maximum punishment. Chief Minister Biren Singh should be sacked immediately for failing to maintain peace in Manipur. President's rule should be imposed in Manipur and people should be provided security immediately. The demands included enactment of laws for the protection of women to prevent women from being channelised on political issues.

A large number of students of government law colleges participated in the meeting and raised slogans condemning the Union government and reiterating their demands.
