Post Graduate Department of Social Work of Sri Krishna Arts and Science College and REST an NGO jointly organised a workshop on employable skill development for women. Women members from the various self help groups participated in the workshop. The workshop was organized as part of International Women’s day celebrations.

Dr.D.Srinivasan, Director of REST was the Chief Guest at this programme. The chief guest in his address said “Entrepreneurship and self employment makes women independent. The contemporary society needs the contributions of all people to develop the economy. Impart the concept of self employment in each home. Each woman in the society should work or start a business as this will develop her family and it will result in development of our nation too. Women should consider incepting a start-up and for that they have to be trained on the various aspects of entrepreneurship. Social welfare organizations should play a major role on women empowerment and women entrepreneurships.” he said.

D.Vaishali a student of Department of Social Work at the college trained the participants who were about 30 in number. She trained the women on how to design and manufacture bangles, armlets, bracelets, wristlets and other accessories. For the participants this workshop was an eye-opener.
