PSG educational institutions joined hands with city-based NGO Siruthuli and cleaned the Vedapatti Lake better known as Pudukulam. This water body is located near Perur in Coimbatore. The lake has reportedly not been desilted for 20 years now, has been desilted and rejuvenated. It may be noted that this desilting activity has been carried out at a time when the city is experiencing showers.

The desilting will result in automatically increasing of the lake's storage capacity to 3.5 MCft. The total area of the tank bed of this lake is 20 hectares and the tank will be part of the flood control mechanism during excessive rains. When the rainfall is deficit the tank will act as a drought relief structure. The lake will also help in creating bio diversity by providing shelter to many birds and animals. The income of the fishermen who are dependent on this lake will improve.
