Five Lives Lost in Tragic Collapse of Coimbatore College Compound Wall - Two Arrested

A tragic incident has occurred in Coimbatore, India, with five people died as the compound wall of a private college collapsed. Police have registered a case against three persons in connection with the incident, including the owner of a private construction company.


Coimbatore: Police have registered a case against three people, including the owner of a private construction company, in connection with the collapse of the compound wall of a private college in Coimbatore, which killed five people.

Kolli Jeganathan (53), Nagila Sathyam (48), Rabaka Kanhaiya (49) and Biskos (40), and Baroon Ghose (28) from West Bengal died after a compound wall collapsed in the campus of a private college in the Sugunapuram area of Coimbatore on Tuesday evening.

Kuniyamuthur police registered a case under sections 288 and 304(ii) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Srinivasan, owner of a private construction company, Sadiq-ul-Ameer, project manager and engineer Arunachalam. The police arrested the project manager Sadiq-ul-Ameer and engineer Arunachalam after an investigation. They were subsequently subjected to a physical examination and produced before a magistrate and sent to jail.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the five workers who died in the accident were handed over to their relatives after post-mortem. Arrangements have been made to take the bodies of the deceased to Bangalore airport in an ambulance and from there to Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal by air, the Coimbatore district administration said in a press release.

The district administration of Coimbatore has also declared that arrangements have been taken to provide enough relief to the relatives of the deceased individuals through the respective contractor, insurance company, and construction workers' welfare board.
