The state youth wing of the DMK party conducted a body building and bench press championship competition to celebrate the 65th birthday of the executive leader of DMK party, M.K. Stalin. The competition was held in the Kalaingar Karunananithi Engineering College locate at Kannampalayam in Coimbatore. 300 body builders from Salem, Erode, Nilgiris, Tiruppur, Theni, Madurai, Sivakasi, Chennai and Pudukottai participated in this competition.
180 participants participated in the state level bench press event. The competitions were conducted for 52, 60, 75 and 90 kgs categories. 120 persons participated in the weight categories of 56, 66, and above 85 kgs categories.
Karvendhan from Tirupur district won the 52kg category in Bench press event by lifting a weight of 100kgs and in 60 kg category, Naveen from Coimbatore won the competition by lifting a weight of 95 kgs in the 60kg category. Kumar from Coimbatore won the 75 kg category with a lift of 135kgs. Toufiq Ahemed from Coimbatore won the titles with a life of 137.5 kgs in the 90kgs category.
Bhuvaneshwaran won the state level body building championship, Karvendhan won the second place, Ganesh Kannan from Coimbatore won the third place. State youth wing president of DMK Paintamil Pari distributed the prices to the winners.
