The minister for commercial tax and registration has stated that Rs.478.26 crores has been generated as additional revenue. A review meeting was conducted today at the commercial taxes office by minister K.C. Veeramani. The minister inspected the works that was carried out in the department in this year.

When speaking in the meeting minister said, “The revenue that is generated through the commercial tax department is not only important but that is the primary source of income. Up to the period of January 2017 Rs. 3667.34 crores has been collected a tax. This is Rs.478.26 crores higher than the previous year. This is a 15% increase in the tax collection.” he said.
He added that, “The officials should work hard and increase the collection of tax and increase the tax income. They should reach a higher growth rate in collecting tax. 87% of traders are filling their taxes through the internet. 95% of taxes have been collected through the internet.” he said.
“Action should be taken on those who are defaulting on taxes through taxation and implementation. Action should be taken on the people who are involved in illegal trade. Action should be taken on those traders who claim tax returns through false data. The reasons for low tax collection should be found out and action should be taken on those traders. The pending taxes should also be collected.” he said.
“The tax that is collected through this department is an important source which is used to fund the schemes that are implemented by the chief minister for the benefit of the poor people. Hence the work carried out by our department is important. “ said the minister.
Assistant commissioner of the commercial tax Rashmi Sidhaarth Jagade, Anish Sekar, Additional commissioners Rathinasamay, Garwar Alam, and assistant commissioners of the commercial tax departments participated in this meeting.
