Badrinarayanan, I.P.S., Superintendent of Police (S.P) of Coimbatore District, recently announced that the advanced measure of 'Project Pallikoodam 2.0' is to be launched by July 15th as an extended initiative to its existing ideology of educating school students with awareness about sexual crimes and violence against children.
Coimbatore: Badrinarayanan, I.P.S., Superintendent of Police (S.P), Coimbatore District, announced on Thursday that Project Pallikoodam 2.0 will be launched by July 15.
With a successful journey of 'Project Pallikoodam', an awareness initiative to educate school students on sexual crimes and violence against children, the next phase 2.0 is an advanced measure to further expand its objective.
It was informed that with the launch of Project Pallikoodam 1.0 during the last academic year, the district police had approached almost 2,50,000 students through direct interaction.
Last year, around 2000 cases relating to drugs, the POCSO Act, and other associated offences were prevented.

In a statement to the media about the new launch, I.P.S. Badrinarayanan said, "With this advanced 2.0 project, its objectives are planned to be expanded with virtual representation to students regarding sexual crimes, narcotics, and crimes against children." For the same, the department officials will use Projectors, audio systems, visual manifestation and other interactive methods for effective responses".
Furthermore, the Superintendent of Police stated that the Police Department planned for providing students with Martial Arts training. Special efforts will also be launched to educate tribal students. Additionally, preventive action measures for cybercrime will be informed, which has been on the rise as technology has advanced.
Key focus includes the 'Mission Drug-Free Coimbatore' among College students and to reduce drug peddling and relative crime.
