Tirupur: Ten councillors, including the DMK, have raised dissatisfaction against the municipality president alleging irregularities in palladam municipality.
Palladam municipality in Tirupur district has 18 wards. Kavithamani, a woman municipal chairperson who was elected by the councillors as the chairperson of the municipality, has been working for the last one-and-a-half years.
Ten councillors, including seven DMK members, have lodged a complaint with the Palladam Municipal Commissioner.
They said that they had been humiliated by the public for failing to build basic structures for their wards thus far, and that the tender scam is ongoing.
This caused a sudden outcry. It is stated that the Palladam solid waste management project was diverted from the councillors in order to change the focus and obtain signatures from the councillors in order to change the tender due to the commission, and so the councillors were duped.
This has raised concerns among DMK councillors that there is a corruption scandal. They are also demanding that the tender be cancelled immediately.
They also stated that municipal council sessions, such as monthly ordinary meetings and emergency meetings, should be held in public. In the most recent meeting, 10 of the 18 councillors — seven DMK councillors, two BJP councillors, and one Congress councillor — banded together to express dissatisfaction with the municipal chairman.
