Three Porcupine Pups crushed to death by a four-wheeler in Valparai Main Road.


In a hit-and-run incident, on the Valparai Main Road three Porcupine pups lost their lives.

Yesterday morning, a Porcupine along with it's three newborn pups were crossing the road at the Rottikadai area on the Valparai Road. Unexpectedly, a four-wheeler ran over the pups and crushed all three porcupine to death.



However, the mother Porcupine crossed the road safely. Seeing three dead porcupines on the road, the public cleared the carcass from the road and informed the forest officials. 



The forest officials examined the carcass and are investigating the incident. The death of three newborn porcupines due to reckless driving has shocked the environmentalists as Porcupines play an important role in spreading seeds and pollen.
