Tamilnadu government's free laptops for college students and bicycles for school students were distributed today by minister S.P. Velumani. He distributed bicycles to the 345 students and laptops to the 210 students.
When speaking after the distribution function minister S.P. Velumani said, “The projects announced by former chief minister J. Jayalalitha are being implemented as per her wishes. Foresighted projects are also being implemented such that people from all section of society are benefitted. Tamilnadu government which has understood that only education can improve a state and its people has been implementing many projects for the benefit of school students and college goers. The projects are implemented in Coimbatore as and when they have been announced.”

“The aim of the project is to improve the standard of the education in the state and also to make it on part with international standards. Owning and using a laptop is a dream for the students from the low income group, this dream of theirs has come true. Thanks to the project that was initiated by our former (late) CM.”
“Following the success of these projects in our state, the leaders from other states too initiated these projects by announcing them as a part of their election manifesto. However, the projects could not be implemented in the other states. Former chief minister is the only person who has successfully implemented the schemes.”
“Bicycles are provided to the plus one students of the government schools and government aided schools. As part of this scheme, 64 students from Kulathupalayam government high school, 97 students from Sundakamuthur government high school, 89 students from Mathavarayapuram were provided with bicycles. About 345 students were provided the bicycles in total.”
“The students should benefit from the government schemes and should pursue higher education. Those students who cannot afford to get education can submit a petition in my office at Thondamuthur. Educational assistance will be provided to applicants to pursue higher education.”
“If students from this area are placed in various positions it will be a proud moment not only for our village but also for our district and for our country as well. The infrastructure development projects at the government schools are being implemented with immediate effect.” he said.
In today’s programme MLAs Ettimadai Shanmugam, Kasturi Vasu, Amman. K. Arjunan, Ruben Shankar Raja, Project director of district rural development office, assistant collector Saravanamurthym Mohan, Suresh, Chenniappan, Heads of the school Dhanabackiyam, Janarathanan, Manibala among government officials participated.
