Wild animals especially Bisons entering residentials colonies has become a day-to-day affair for the residents of Coonoor. As the entire forest of the Nilgiris range has dried up due to lack of rains, an acute scarcity for fodder and water prevails in the region.

Yesterday evening, an adult Bison entered the compund wall of a residence located in Government Hospital Doctor Quarters, in Brookeland Bellroad area. Horrified by the sight, the residents were struck in grave fear and opted to stay indoors. After a few hours of grazing, the Bison left the residence without causing any damage to the properties.
Despite, the forest department taking preventive measures, Bisons trespassing into Coonoor has become a lasting phenomenon.
