A conference on road safety was conducted as part of the road safety week at the conference hall in the PRS grounds. Coimbatore district collector T.N. Hariharan presided over the function. Coimbatore police commissioner Amalraj lead the conference.

Coimbatore collector T.N. Hariaharan when distributed a road safety handbook at the conference. When speaking at the conference he said, “The state government is making various efforts to decrease the number of road accidents. Vehicles on roads keep on increasing year and after year and accidents too keep increasing.”
“Nobody wants accidents to happen. But 90 percent of accidents happen due to a human error. The accidents lead to property damage as well as loss of life. The road safety week is observed in January of every year with an aim to decrease the road traffic accidents by creating awareness among the road users. A traffic park has been created with the help of Honda company to spread awareness about road traffic rules and regulations among the school students. The school students of the district should be aware of the road rules and they should also teach their parents and relatives in their homes to follow the traffic rules. If everyone including the young and the older ones follow the road rules accidents can be completely stopped” said the collector.
Police commissioner and the traffic commissioner inspected the traffic park that has been set up within the PRS campus.
Superintendent of Police, Ramya Bharathi, Assistant commissioner (Traffic) Saravanan, Regional Transport Officers Munusamy, Udhayakumar, Karthikeyan and Mani participated in this road safety conference.
