Congress put money and hope in people’s lives; BJP makes people lose faith in money because of repeated demonetisation - Coimbatore South District Congress President Bhagavathi

Speaking after the 32nd death anniversary celebrations of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in Coimbatore, Bhagavathi has alleged that people have lost faith in money due to repeated demonetisation by the BJP government.

Coimbatore: The Congress has alleged that the people of the country are afraid that the BJP government will declare any note invalid at any time.

On the occasion of the 32nd death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, party workers across the country are paying floral tributes to his portrait.

As part of this, the Coimbatore South District Congress Committee held a function in front of the Pollachi Central Bus Stand to pay floral tributes to the portrait of Rajiv Gandhi.

The event, which was presided over by district president Bhagwati, was attended by a large number of Congress workers who paid floral tributes to the portrait of Rajiv Gandhi and then took the anti-terror pledge.

Later, district president Bhagavathi told reporters,

“The poor people do not have Rs 2000 notes in their hands. "When demonetisation of Rs 500-1,000 notes was announced, you announced that they would not be legal tender in a single day and printed 2,000 notes saying that you will save the people.

However, in seven years, Rs 2,000 notes have been demonetised. In the 70 years of Congress rule, the Congress party gave money to the people as hope. But today, people have lost faith in money.

People are afraid of which currency notes will be demonetised and when they will be declared invalid. This announcement shows the failure of the central government. This announcement has been made to mislead the people.“
