A group of strangers who entered a jewellery shop that is located on Raja Street have reportedly gotten away with a booty of 4.5 kg of gold after threatening the shop owner at knife point.
Chandrasekar a resident of Big Bazaar street in Coimbatore is involved in gold wholesale business in Big Bazaar street. Riysudheen was working as a driver in his shop. It has been reported that Chandrasekar left home for lunch, leaving the shop in the custody of two of his female staff Geetha and Revathy. Unexpectedly, two unidentified masked men forcefully entered the shop and threatened the women to shut their eyes and looted the jewels. .

According to sources, close to 4.5 kg of jewels worth 1 crore and 35 lakh rupees has been stolen. The men who stole the jewels also took away the hard disk used for recording the CCTV footage. Immediately after they left, the staff called the owner Chandrasekar and informed him about the looting. Chandrasekhar immediately alerted the Police and filed a complaint with the Variety hall road police station. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
Police are currently analyzing the footage retrieved from the CCTV cameras installed by the police department at Raja street and also investigating the case with the help of video footage that was recorded in the CCTV camera that was installed in the neighboring shop.
This incident that took place in the heart of the city and in broad daylight has instilled fear among the jewelers who stock large amount of gold and valuables in their shops.
