The residents of Ward No:17 are over-whelmed as their plea to renovate the park in their area has been taken up by the Corporation for renovation. It has been the long-pending plea of the residents of Gurusamy Nagar as the Public Park of their area pose a desolate look without regular maintenance.
'The park was in a unusable state hence we approached the Corporation to renovate the park' said a resident of Gurusamy Nagar.

Acting upon their request, Corporation Commissioner Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan along with West Zone officials inspected the park and derived plans to renovate it with immediate effect. Now, the park's renovation has reached the final stage and the estimated cost of renovation is around Rs. 74 lakhs.

Walking tracks, Children's play area, Benches for senior citizens, 6 LED lights, lawn area, badminton court, toilet facilities for men and women, drinking water facilities, two-wheeler parking area, compound walls are the ultra facilities available at the park. Though the park is yet to be formally inaugurated, people have begun to use the park.

Speaking on this West Zone, Executive Engineer Karuppusamy said that, 'the area of the park at Ward No:17, Gurusamy Nagar is 1800 sq meters and it has renovated at a cost of Rs. 74 lakhs. The renovation work is nearing it's completion and within a span of ten days the park will be open for public use. The park will function from 6 am to 9 am and again from 4 pm to 8 pm'.

Yesterday, Corporation Commissioner and Deputy Corporation Commissioner along with west zone officials inspected the works carried out in the park. Corporation Commissioner has also announced that all retrieved reserve sites will turn into beautiful parks/gardens/nurseries, hence soon the city can expect many more such beautiful parks in a short span of time.
