Avinashilingam University for Women along with All‐India Road Show on Women’s Economic Empowerment through Entrepreneurship (AIRSWEE) today organized a session on Entrepreneurship for the students.
The Special Speakers for the session were Seema Chaturvedi, Chairwoman of Project AIRSWEE and a Former Member of TiE Global’ s Board of Trustees, Hemalatha Annamalai Founder and CEO of Ampere Vehicles Pvt.Ltd.
Dr.Premavathy Vijayan, Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Zarina, Dean of the University, Rameshkumar, General Manager TiE Coimbatore Chapter, Akila Rajeshwar, Executive Director TiE Chennai Chapter and Reni Auxilliya, Executive Director TiE Coimbatore Chapter were also present at the session.
Dr.Premavathy Vijayan in her presidential address stressed on the point that students should keep exploring the opportunities available around them. She advised them to utilize this session to enhance and develop their skill set and stay in tune with women empowerment and entrepreneurship.
Seema Chaturvedi in her special address shared that, 'Women are vested with a very special power and that is 'creating a new life'. If a women can create a new life...what in this world is impossible for her to do? Hence creating a change/ development is encoded in a women's DNA' Seema Said.
She asked the students to learn new things and start building a support system. 'Never take this privilege of getting education for granted as millions of women are denied of this privilege. You have the liberty to do anything with your life but always do something ,meaningful with your life.' she said. When she asked the students, 'how many of you would like to become entrepreneurs?' The entire crowd raised their hands.
She further shared that through entrepreneurship a change can be created in millions of lives. Though there is a set of risks and concerns associated with Women Entrepreneurship but with the advent of technology Women can still be entrepreneurs working from home or at multiple places. Seema signed off saying, 'dig deep, think about the factors and engage yourself in something which will have a impact'.
Seconding her was Hemalatha Annamalai who shared her journey as an Woman Entrepreneur and her starup-up experiences and challenges. Hemalatha revealed that 30 percent of workforce in her company (Ampere Vehicles Pvt.Ltd.) are women and she has plans to make it a 100% with the aspiring graduates from the Avinashilingam University. She insisted the students to be focused, learn, grow and enjoy life. If all this is followed in an orderly way, success is assured, Hemalatha told her audience. As a noble gesture, Hemalatha apprised that her company Ampere Vehicles Pvt.Ltd. will be providing an electric scooter free of cost to most the deserving differently-abled student from the University.
Undeniably, this session by AIRSWEE on entrepreneurship was on eye-opener for the students, especially the final year students who are ready to complete their graduation in a couple of month's time and step out to face real world ahead.
